"Old-World" : belonging to or associated with former times, especially when considered quaint and attractive.
We all dream of going back in time just to experience some of the beautiful things that may not be as common in this lifetime anymore. In this collaborative shoot, the MDFD team explores the multifaceted use of an open space and its charm to bring back a little bit of the past: outdoor soirees, reconnecting with nature and the beauty of a candle-lit dinner during sunset.
A romantic styled wedding editorial depicting a love story in endless fields and an evening fete of sweets. Taken in the tall-grass prairie land of Jordan, Minnesota, this shoot embarks us on a dreamy getaway.
As if right out of a European fairy tale, the overall theme was focused on a dusty rose palette, particularly in the rich linens combined with blush tones of the flowers. Darks greens were used in conjunction with dried pampas grass to create a whimsical and lively tone. Golden hour, not just apparent in the sky, but also in the little details present: gold-foil invitations, rimmed wine glass and little gold flakes on a perfect gâteau. Photographed By Rachel Leigh.
The Love Letter: Invitation Suite
Gold foil delicately frames the raw-edge paper of the invitation while the envelope displays dried rose petals in the lining.
Handwritten calligraphy in the daintiest font.
Receiving a bespoke invitation from such coveted artistry is sure to leave a lasting first impression on the guests. Did you receive your love letter yet? Crafted by Amelia at Lavishing Ink.
A dream come true in this strapless tulle gown with the prettiest bodice. This gorgeous ivory wedding dress from Calla Blanche had a sheer nude bodice embellished with lace appliques that extends past the waist and into the dress. The magic came from the glittery layer of tulle that sparkled wherever she went.

The classic braid with a soft and natural look. Lisa at LNH Beauty created a lovely sheer glow on the bride and mainly focused on elevating her look with an effortless approach. A gorgeous hairpiece highlighted her simple, yet elegant style. Being in such a natural landscape with the humid air called for a look that can be more friendly towards the great outdoors and also easy for the bride so she wouldn’t need to fret with her hair or makeup.
"One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."
- Virginia Woolf
Living for sunset celebrations, flowers, and a table setting perfected with all the right opulence. This farm table set provided from Rudy's Event Rentals was made for moments like this. The dark wood contrasted so beautifully with Silk and Willow's dusty rose table runner, and blush-toned linen napkins. The pink-tinted wine glasses added all the subtle warm tones while the gold rims complimented not just the vintage "goldware" but also the gold toile plates and foiled menus designed by Lavishing Ink.
Bunny tail grass reflected not just a rich texture,
but also the sunlight that was hitting at the perfect angle.
A simple chair design was made for the bride and groom using Israeli ruscus and pampas grass stems.
Simple and effective in this already-wild field of greens.
The bridal bouquet was an eclectic combination of blush garden roses, blushing bride protea and little pops of mauve purple. Pampas stems and bunny tail grass completes the look with Israeli ruscus greens.
Finishing the bouquet with an addition of gossamer elements - Silk ribbon from Silk and Willow in dusty rose.
We designed a compote vase arrangement for this centerpiece to be the focus of the tablescape. Ruscus leaves and pampas grass elongated the shape while the assorted flowers provided just enough texture. The neutral and blush colors kept everything contrasted from all the rich surroundings and highlighted just the perfect amount of light. A bunny tail grass stem is displayed on each menu.
This delectable confectionery was created by Sarah at Gold Spoon Events and it added the sweetest touch to this tablescape! A harmonically combination of mango vanilla cake with coconut cream cheese filling and real edible gold-leaf on a naked canvas. Blush garden roses placed perfectly to show the little flakes of recurring gold peeking through. The best conclusion we could've had for this outdoor celebration.
Thank you to Rachel for capturing the essence of our vision! We also want to extend a huge acknowledgment to all of the vendors who made this shoot possible and to our real-life couple Kaitlin and Mark! We had the honor of working with this incredible couple for their wedding and it was surreal to have them again for this photo shoot. Please be sure to check out all of the vendors below and don’t miss our next project.
